Howard Eskin says the Philadelphia Eagles have begun "preliminary" discussions with A.J. Brown and his agent about a contract extension.

"I have kind of heard different things that—whether it is preliminary discussions—they are thinking about a new contract for A.J. Brown," Eskin told Joe DeCamara and Jon Ritchie on Thursday's 94WIP Morning Show. "Not trading A.J. Brown, they're thinking about an extension for A.J. Brown...They've already started some conversation with A.J. Brown's agent about an extension."

The 26-year-old three-time Pro Bowl and two-time second-team All-Pro wide receiver was acquired by Howie Roseman and the Eagles from the Tennessee Titans in a 2022 Draft Day trade. The Eagles quickly signed Brown to a new four-year, $100 million contract following the trade.

Brown, who turns 27 in June, has no guaranteed salary money on his contract after this season. He has cap hits of $12.38 million, $26.5 million, and then a lofty $41.5 million over the next three seasons .

There has been some speculation that the Eagles, who recently signed wide receiver DeVonta Smith to a three-year extension worth $75 million ($51 million guaranteed), could look to trade Brown during this weekend's NFL Draft.

"Almost zero chance that A.J. Brown won't be here and almost zero chance, with the first-round pick, that they take a wide receiver," Eskin said.

The Eagles have picked up Smith's 2025 $15.59 million fifth-year option and added three more years onto his deal, keeping him in Philadelphia through 2028. Smith will earn about $91 million over the next five seasons.
