The Philadelphia Phillies defeated the defending champion Texas Rangers 5-2 on Thursday afternoon to complete the three-game sweep.

It was the Phillies' sixth straight win and they are now 37-14 overall, the best start in franchise history and the first team to win 36 of their first 50 games since the 2001 Seattle Mariners.

Zack Wheeler went 7.0 innings for the Phils , allowing just five hits and two earned runs while striking out five and walking two batters.

Offensively, Kyle Schwarber and Nick Castellanos had two hits a piece, while Casty hit his 5th home run of the season in the bottom of the 7th. Christian Pache, playing center field, also had two hits including a triple.

Edmundo Sosa, filling in at shortstop for the injured Trea Turner, was 3-3 with a double and a run scored.

J.T. Realmuto homered for the second straight game.

The Phillies now head to Colorado for a three-game weekend set with the Rockies before traveling to San Francisco for another three-game road series beginning on Monday.
