A pair of Lehigh Valley heavy hitters are giving the classic ice cream cone a glow-up, just in time for the summer. Twisted & Dipped, a brand new concept, will be inviting visitors to satisfy their sweet cravings with delicious soft serve dipped in gourmet chocolate, reports local media outlet The Morning Call.

The shop will be serving cones out of the Chocolate Lab’s old home at 446 Main Street. Twisted & Dipped is the shared creation of Batch Microcreamery, owned by partners Manny Rodriguez and Rick Pongracz, and Truffle Bar, spearheaded by Brooke Dietrich, both bright stars in the local dessert scene. The concept will be moving into the building soon and making the space its own.

Truffle Bar owner Brooke Dietrich explains that Twisted & Dipped will be injecting new life into the storefront, saying ““We’re doing modern, sleek, vibrant colors, making it more kid friendly. It’ll be a fun environment with a different energy [than the Chocolate Lab].”

Twisted & Dipped will allow customers to create custom cones, as simple or elaborate as they can imagine. The shop will allow Batch to flex its dairy muscles; the ice creamery has historically produced hard ice cream. The local favorite is excited to add soft serve to its arsenal. Co-owner Rick Pongracz states “We wanted to do something different, and soft serve makes sense with Brooke’s awesome chocolate.”

After choosing between chocolate, vanilla, swirl, or one of the non-dairy or fruit-based options of ice cream, guests can pick from an array of conventional toppings, ranging from sprinkles to nuts. The coup de grace is Dietrich’s chocolate, however.

Customers will be able to dip their cones in a range of yet-to-be determined chocolates, that will go way beyond simply semi-sweet and milk. Dietrich explains: “Maybe there will be a caramel flavored chocolate. Or I have a royal raspberry truffle that would be good.”

Twisted & Dipped is hoping to be open and ready to serve hungry patrons in time for Musikfest in early August.
