Giglio: Hard to be confident in Eagles season when Jalen Hurts doesn't have Nick Sirianni's back

Joe Giglio says that Jalen Hurts’ lack of an answer to a “layup” question about Nick Sirianni’s coaching was a bad look for the head coach, but even worse for the quarterback.

“That was a bad look for Sirianni,” Joe said. “That’s the quarterback of the team who can’t muster up three nice things to stay about him at the end of minicamp. His leadership, his coaching, everything.

“I think it’s an even worse look for Jalen Hurts. You’re the face of the franchise and the on-field leader of the team, and you can’t have your coach’s back at minicamp.”

Harmony between the quarterback and head coach is essential in the NFL, and Joe doesn’t see any of it there right now between Hurts and Sirianni, which is holding him back from expecting a bounceback season in 2024.

“It’s very hard to get really excited and convince myself that they’re gonna win 13 games when the quarterback is asked a layup question about his head coach,” Joe said. “And he can’t say something nice.”
