As Jalen Hurts’ eye-opening comments about Nick Sirianni continue to be the headline news around the Eagles, Joe Giglio says the head coach has signed up for a “no-win situation” in Philadelphia where he has become the “human shield” to wear all the criticism, but get no praise for what is to come this season.

“I actually feel bad for this guy as we enter the season,” Giglio said. “The quarterback has nothing nice to say about him. Any time we bring this guy up on the station, it feels like people talk about him and think about him as if he doesn’t matter. ‘We got Kellen Moore, we got Vic Fangio, Nick can go stand over there.’ He’s still the head coach of the football team.

“It feels like he’s just the whipping boy for the franchise. If things go right, he’s not getting credit for it…if things go wrong, he’ll be fired.”

Hugh feels no sympathy for Sirianni, but Joe feels for a coach who he believes will spend much of the season fielding questions about what his role exactly is with the team now that his new coordinators seem to have taken the lead of their respective units after last season’s collapse under Sirianni.

“I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a head coach with this kind of setup,” Giglio said. “I feel bad for Nick Sirianni!”
