Spike Eskin began Tuesday's show by saying: "You're welcome."

"Yesterday I said that we as a fan base—hosts here at WIP, listeners of WIP, fans of the Philadelphia Phillies—we need to hold our superstars accountable, " Eskin said at the top of Tuesday's 94WIP Afternoon Show with Ike Reese and Jack Fritz. "And in this situation, I said we need to hold Bryce Harper accountable the same way we hold Joel Embiid accountable, that we hold Jalen Hurts accountable. I said Bryce Harper is a great player, he is having an MVP season, but we should always expect excellence from our superstars.

"He cost us a game on Friday night because he took a night off from that excellence and we should not accept that, we should call it, not because he isn't great, but because he is great.

"I held Bryce Harper accountable. Nobody else wanted to do it, but I held Bryce Harper accountable. But I have two words for you: You're welcome."

Harper went 3-5 with two doubles, a home run and 5 RBI in Monday night's 8-1 win over the Tigers in Detroit, but Eskin noticed something else about his performance.

"Here's the most important thing that happened last night," Eskin said. "Bryce Harper hits what looks like a single to left field and what's he doing? He's running, hard!"
