DeCamara after Bridges to Knicks trade: 'Disappointed my 76ers' expectations are so low'

Joe DeCamara reacted to Mikal Bridges being traded from the Brooklyn Nets to the New York Knicks on Tuesday night and how it affects the Philadelphia 76ers are the start of free-agency nears.

"I am so bummed," DeCamara said on Wednesday's 94WIP Morning Show. "I am so bummed as 76ers fan that Mikal Bridges is headed to the New York Knicks and I am so disappointed that my expectations are so low for 76ers in free-agency."

"It feels to me like it's over before it has even begun...This is not just a Mikal Bridges to the New York Knicks conversation," DeCamara continued. "But the broader thing is the Sixers, your sense of anticipation, expectation for this coming free-agency. And I expect most today to be disappointed going in."

Six years after Philadelphia selected the Villanova alum with the 10th overall pick in the NBA Draft ( his mom worked for the organization! ) and traded him to the Phoenix Suns, Bridges is headed to the Knicks—the team that just eliminated the 76ers in the 2024 NBA Playoffs—to join his former Nova teammates in Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart and Donte DiVincenzo.

While the Knicks gave up Bojan Bogdanović, four first-round picks and future pick swaps for Bridges, it certainly moves them ahead of the Sixers—at least for now—in terms of Eastern Conference contenders.

You can add the Bridges saga to a laundry list of unthinkable events over the last decade-plus of "The Process." Beginning with the Jrue Holiday trade, to Jahlil Okafor No. 3 overall, to Sam Hinkie being forced out, to Bryan Colangelo burner gate, to Markelle Fultz over Jayson Tatum, to Jimmy Butler coming and going, to the Ben Simmons collapse, to the James Harden saga, to Bridges and beyond.
