White Sox veteran could be solid pickup for Phillies to bolster offense

The Philadelphia Phillies already had designs to add a bat to their lineup before Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber suffered injuries.

Now with Harper and Schwarber set to miss a good portion of July, Philadelphia is even more eager to trade for offense.

The Phillies are expecting an in-house uptick in production from guys like Nick Castellanos, but a new hitter in the lineup would only help Philadelphia consolidate their position at the top of the National League.

The Phillies have been linked to Jazz Chisholm of the Miami Marlins, but another possibility for Philadelphia has emerged out of Chicago.

MLB executive reporter Mark Feinsand reported on Sunday that Chicago White Sox outfielder Tommy Pham could be a good fit for the Phillies.

"Philadelphia has been one of the best teams in (Major League Baseball) this season despite marginal production from the outfield, where the Phillies’ .653 OPS ranks ahead of only the Pirates in the National League," Feinsand said. "The Phillies could use help in both left and center. Adding an outfield bat -- Luis Robert Jr.? Ian Happ? Tommy Pham? -- would appear to be the biggest priority for an otherwise complete team."

Pham, 36, has played for eight teams in his MLB career. He is hitting .272/.350/.386 this season.

Will Philadelphia make a move for Pham, or will the Phillies land on another outfielder before July 30?
