After being eliminated by the New York Knicks in the first round of the postseason, the Philadelphia 76ers still seem to be looking for the right players to surround superstar big man Joel Embiid.

According to NBA insider Marc Stein, the 76ers are likely to continue taking swings this summer. Stein suggested Sunday that Philadelphia could attempt to land both Paul George and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope in free agency.

"League sources tell The Stein Line that the ever-ambitious 76ers have explored the feasibility of/cap gymnastics required to try to land both Paul George and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope in free agency," Stein reported .

George, arguably the top free agent available this offseason, declined his player option for 2024-25. The 34-year-old forward averaged 22.6 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game for the Clippers last year.

Shams Charania of The Athletic reported Saturday that Philadelphia is one of three teams George plans to speak with at the start of free agency.

Caldwell-Pope, meanwhile, also declined his player option in order to become a free agent.

The two-time NBA champion made 76 starts for the Nuggets in 2023-24, averaging 10.1 points in 31.6 minutes per game.

The 76ers are also expected to extend star guard Tyrese Maxey this offseason.

It's going to be a busy summer in Philly.
