The Philadelphia 76ers are locking up their newfound Big Three for the foreseeable future.

First signing star Paul George to a four-year deal early Monday morning, followed by the breaking news from ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski that "ESPN Sources: Philadelphia 76ers All-Star guard Tyrese Maxey has agreed in principle on a five-year, $204 million maximum contract extension."

Maxey proved himself as a star last season by winning Most Improved Player, averaging 25.9 points and 6.2 assists on 45% shooting. While the Sixers' fallout with veteran guard James Harden was rough, there's no denying he played a crucial role in Maxey's development. With the addition of George, Philadelphia joins the Boston Celtics and New York Knicks as favorites to come out of the Eastern Conference victorious.

Wojnarowski added, "Maxey and his agent Rich Paul – Klutch Sports CEO – waited a year on the deal to allow the Sixers to maximize salary cap space and now land on a $200M-plus contract in the wake of Maxey’s breakout All-Star season at 23 years old."
