Joe DeCamara reacted to the Philadelphia 76ers' major free-agent signing in nine-time All-Star Paul George, which broke overnight.

"I don't think there is a better player who is going to come through this door. Because of those factors and because Paul George is in fact a quality basketball player," DeCamara said hours after the news broke on Monday's 94WIP Morning Show. "Now, a somewhat declining one, somewhat declining. Obviously that decline will really happen while he is here, really happen over the next two to three years while he's here.

But given the fact that he is still very good, given the fact that he is a very nice with Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid from a floor spacing standpoint...I'm in. I'm in on Paul George to the 76ers. I can't say that I love it, OK? Because I don't love it...This isn't ten thumbs up, but given the whole thing—and here's a huge thing...they didn't have to trade for him."

The 76ers and George agreed to a four-year maximum contract worth $212 million, ESPN's Adrian Wojarowski reported on Monday morning at 3:30am .

    PG, a nine-time NBA All-Star, averaged 22.6 points and 5.2 rebounds on 47.1 FG% / 41.3 3P% / 90.7 FT% shooting splits last season in 74 games.

2023-24 was the first time George, 34, played in more than 56 games since the 2018-19 season due to various injuries.

George suffered a major injury in the summer of 2014, suffering a compound fracture of both bones in his lower right leg during a USA National Team practice.

The Sixers will team George—a career 38.5-percent three point shooter—with 23-year-old ascending All-Star Tyrese Maxey and 30-year-old 2022-23 MVP and seven-time All-Star Joel Embiid.

Daryl Morey has also signed center Andre Drummond (two years, $10-plus million), guard Eric Gordon (one year, $3.3 million) and Kelly Oubre Jr. (two-years, $16.3 million) in free-agency. Philadelphia has also given Maxey a five-year, $204 million max contract.
