Philadelphia, PA – A new city ordinance that prohibits heavily tinted or sun-screened windows on parked vehicles is now in effect.

The ordinance includes both moving and parked vehicles with the potential for a fine from wither the Philadelphia Police Department or the Philadelphia Parking Authority.

A tint will be considered excessive if it is impossible to see inside the vehicle through the windshield or side windows. Under these regulations, at least 70% of light must be able to pass through, which can be monitored with meters.

Any vehicle can be ticketed for this, but exemptions will be made for tints installed by the vehicle manufacturer or for medical reasons.
