Chance for storms in Philadelphia area on July 4th, Hurricane Beryl's path heads for Jamaica 03:07

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Expect more gorgeous weather in and around Philadelphia on Wednesday with seasonably mild temperatures, plenty of sun mixed with a few clouds and very low humidity, especially for this time of year.

Highs will be in the upper 80s Wednesday with feels-like temperatures to match. Expect some morning clouds, but skies clear for a mostly sunny day.

    Fourth of July forecast

Things change significantly on Thursday as showers and storms are possible for the Fourth of July holiday.

The heat and humidity will ramp up, and although there doesn't appear to be a risk of a major storm system, we will certainly be tracking on and off showers throughout the day, mainly during the afternoon and evening. The Philadelphia area looks to stay quiet until about 2-3 p.m., though a few spotty showers are possible across the Lehigh Valley earlier in the morning.

Storms may fire up later in the evening, especially north and west of the city. As of Wednesday, the Jersey Shore appears poised to stay dry for the Fourth.

At this point, don't cancel any Fourth of July plans, but definitely keep an eye on the sky and have those backup plans in place in case a storm passes over your event.

    More heat, humidity and storms

That pattern of heat, humidity and afternoon storms will continue through the weekend with highs in the low 90s, morning lows in the 70s and shower or storm chances every day. As of now, it looks as though Saturday may be the most active and Sunday the least, but we'll keep you posted.

    Hurricane Beryl path update

In the tropics, Hurricane Beryl remains a dangerous Category 4 storm with sustained winds exceeding 150 mph.

All eyes are on Jamaica as Beryl is expected to have major impacts for the country in the form of damaging winds, flooding rain and high storm surge, especially on the southern part of the country. The storm is poised to make landfall around 1 p.m. Wednesday, and could remain a Category 3 storm as it continues toward the Cayman Islands tonight into Thursday.
