Paul George opened up about his decision to leave the Los Angeles Clippers and sign with the Philadelphia 76ers in free-agency last week on the latest episode of the Podcast P .

    1. Paul George felt disrespected by Clippers and goes into detail about the contract negotiations

Paul George admits he never wanted to leave LA. According to PG, the Clippers’ first initial deal of two years, $60 million in October of 2023 was “disrespectful.” After the season, LA upped their deal to 3yr, $150M, but refused to add a no-trade or a fourth year and that's when PG decided to see what else is available.

    2. Paul George talks about his decision to join Philadelphia was largely based on his opportunity to team up with Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey and pursue a championship.

“One of the best young point guards in the league, one of the best—if not the best—big in the league. Based off of the meeting I did feel like, this is where I’m supposed to be.”

    3. Paul George was asked what he learned in his meeting with the Sixers' front-office

PG says he learned that Philadelphia has great golf course, but more importantly the Sixers' brass put the stamp on the city's passionate fan base.

“Putting a stamp on how passionate the fans are. Yeah, they can be rowdy. I’ve heard the stories of them getting on their players…but that’s good pressure. That’s pressure that you want…It was kind of reassuring.”

    4. PG says the Sixers made him a recruitment video that included Saquon Barkley, Lil Dicky, Kevin Hart, Mike Trout and other Philadelphia natives.

    5. George says he chose to wear No. 8 to honor Kobe Bryant.
