Overnight lane restrictions are expected this week on the Schuylkill Expressway as milling, paving and bridge repairs continue.

Monday, July 8, through Friday, July 12, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a single lane closure will be in place on I-76 between U.S. 1 and Spring Garden Street.

According to PennDOT, “PennDOT’s contractor will mill and overlay I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) pavement from U.S. 1 to I-676; perform concrete base, shoulder and barrier repair and replacement as needed; construct minor grade adjustments for existing inlets at select locations; replace damaged signs; install new pavement markings, delineators and rumble strips; and perform bridge repair.”

The work falls under a $36.8 million project to resurface and repair nearly five miles of the interstate, the associated on-and-off ramps, and more than 20 bridges.
