Kelly Oubre is nothing but ecstatic that he and Paul George are about to share the court and help the Philadelphia 76ers in its common goal to win a championship. In his media availability after returning to Philly via a two-year, $16.3 million deal, Oubre expressed his enthusiasm about the looming pairing and partnership that he’ll have with the new 76ers star.

“I’m really excited,” he said . “I’ve always studied his game. I’ve always been a fan from afar and to be able to get bits and pieces and nuggets from him, learn his game a little bit, and inspire him. I think we kind of offered different things, but we both can feed and learn off of each other, but I’m really excited. to learn from him to help him do his thing with the rest of his career that he has left. I’m really excited.”

    From foes to allies

Considering the highly documented fights he shared with the All-Star swingman, it's quite an intriguing word from Oubre. From the previous years, Kelly and Paul locked horns in plenty of heated plays and trash-talking, convincing everyone to speculate that they have a beef.

But in the viewpoint of Oubre, what fans saw between them was more of a contest between two fierce competitors, who are now turning themselves into newfound allies in the City of Brotherly Love. As such, the 28-year-old dismissed the notion that he and PG are sharing an embattled rift after their battles in the past.

“Obviously, everybody wants to talk about a beef or whatever. There’s never been a beef; there’s just been two competitors who respect each other on the court, and we just try to go at it really hard. So now that we’re on the same team, we can do that to other people. So I’m excited,” Oubre stated.

    Two of Philly’s important pieces

As they put the past behind them, both Oubre and George will be urgently needed by the Sixers to unite in their pursuit of that elusive title. With their length, two-way play, and versatility, Philadelphia sees benefits and wonders for them as two important units in their wing depth. And that couldn’t be more vital as they’ll face their fellow contenders, especially the reigning champion Boston Celtics, who boasts both Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.

From foes to allies, we can only anticipate how things will perfectly transition for Oubre and PG starting next season for the 76ers.
