Eagles' replacement for Jason Kelce pegged as potential NFL superstar

The Philadelphia Eagles made several changes this offseason. After a massive collapse down the stretch in 2023 that saw them get eliminated in the wildcard round of the playoffs, the Eagles hired a new offensive coordinator and defensive coordinator, bringing in Kellen Moore and Vic Fangio, respectively.

In addition to new coaches, the Eagles will also have to rely on a new center after Jason Kelce announced his retirement. And while filling the shoes of a future Hall of Famer is never an easy task, CBS Sports has named Kelce’s replacement as a potential breakout star. Cam Jurgens was listed as a member of CBS’ All-Breakout Team.

"Even though the offensive output took a nosedive in 2023, there is still confidence projecting that unit forward because of offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland's presence,” Josh Edwards wrote. “Stoutland is one of the most respected teachers of the position in football and recent retiree Jason Kelce has been pouring knowledge into Jurgens since the latter was drafted in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft .”

It goes without saying how important Jurgens’ progression will be both in terms of propelling the running game and keeping Jalen Hurts healthy. His knee injury is a large reason as to why the Eagles never looked like themselves in the latter portion of the season. And while no one is expecting Jurgens to be as great as Kelce, the expectations are still very high for the former second-round pick.
