Phillies Dad Drops Home Run Ball, Sends His Kid Into Meltdown, Gets Bailed Out By Usher

You really hate to see it. Dads are everyday heroes. Kids look up to their parents and believe they can do anything, so it's devastating when parents fail in front of their children. Especially when the thing they "failed at" is catching a home run ball that came right to them. Basically, this is a story in three parts. One could classify those three portions as failure, sadness, and triumph. The "failure" part is actually the result of someone else's success. Philadelphia Phillies star Kyle Schwarber rocketed a home run into the right field stands, hitting it so hard that it reached the second deck. That's where a father was patiently waiting for the ball to come right to him - with his wife and two kids sitting beside him and watching in anticipation. Could this really be happening? Could their dad actually be catching a home run ball? Nope. Despite the home run ball coming right towards the father, he couldn't secure the catch, and the prized baseball dropped down to the stands below, with some other fortunate fan ultimately claiming it. Now enters the "sadness" part of the story. One of the father's kids found out that life isn't always fair. It's wonderful how sports can teach so many great lessons about life. The kid was crying into his mom's arms because he was so close, yet so far away from taking home a special souvenir. If only his dad could have firmly grasped the baseball. But then, like a phoenix rising from the ashes, the story was saved with one triumphant act. One of the nearby ushers in the stadium saw how everything had unfolded, and decided to take matters into his own hands. What's the cure for a crying kid at a baseball game? Giving them a baseball, of course! The usher hand delivered a baseball (whether it was game used or not is unknown) to the kid, giving the sad story a very happy ending. Good luck finding two kids more excited to be handed a baseball by an old man than these two. I'm sure the father is still kicking himself over not hauling in the home run, but this was as good of an ending as he could have hoped for. And where he might be lacking in being able to catch baseballs, he more than makes up for it in raising his kids right. The boy who was crying- who was actually wearing the jersey of Schwarber, who hit the home run - made sure to thank the usher before he got back to his stadium duties. Right on kid, right on. https://twitter.com/PitchingNinja/status/1811564464052830417?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1811564464052830417%7Ctwgr%5E82011d189938de86894115b0fe5709b255018b48%7Ctwcon%5Es1_c10&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.barstoolsports.com%2Fblog%2F3519288%2Fdropping-a-home-run-ball-and-causing-your-kid-to-cry-has-to-be-one-of-the-worst-dad-moments-imaginable
