There are a multitude of factors that go into a free agent's decision on a new contract. Championship aspirations, a desire to be closer to home and financial motivations are all variables to be considered when looking at what the next destination will be.

For Paul George, you can also add Lil Dicky as a component to his decision to sign with the 76ers.

The former Clippers star inked a massive four-year, $211.6 million contract with Philadelphia this offseason, teaming up with one-time MVP Joel Embiid and NBA Most Improved Player recipient Tyrese Maxey. George adds a different element to Philly's game, which should help the team with its aspirations to emerge out of the Eastern Conference.

He undoubtedly was one of the most sought-after free agents and is in line to make the most impact out of any free agent who signed with a new team. If that ends up being the case, the Philadelphia faithful have one of their own to thank for recruiting George to the City of Brotherly Love.

Here is more on how Lil Dicky convinced George to sign with the 76ers.

How Lil Dicky convinced Paul George to sign with the 76ers

During an episode of George's podcast, "Podcast P with Paul George," the nine-time All-Star had rapper Lil Dicky on as a guest. The musical artist, who was born Dave Burd, grew up in Cheltenham Township, located on the north border of Philadelphia, and is a massive 76ers fan.

The two discussed how Lil Dicky actually helped Philadelphia with its free agency pitch to George, thanks to the rapper's relationship with GM Daryl Morey. Lil Dicky was included in a video that was sent to George to try and land him.

The summary of it is that the rapper explained the financial differences between Philadelphia and Los Angeles, where George resided for five seasons as a Clipper and where Lil Dicky currently lives.

"I'm from Philadelphia, I know where your dollar goes in Philadelphia," Lil Dicky said. "I have a house in L.A. If I spent the same amount of money on that house in Philadelphia, it would be like 100 times bigger. Your bang for your buck goes so much further in Philadelphia."

George admitted that what the rapper had to say did resonate with him, and it helped with his decision on a new contract.

"It sold me," George said. "What hit me was the saving money. It impacted me. It had a little touch on me."

The newest member of the 76ers revealed that he didn't want to leave Los Angeles, which is where he grew up. However, when the Clippers refused to offer George the same three-year, $149.7 million deal they gave Kawhi Leonard in January, it opened the door for the 76ers to come in and offer more money.

"You had an influence," George said of Lil Dicky. "That's a badge of honor right there."
