The Ground: a plant lover’s coffee spot in Rittenhouse Square

If you’re a plant lover who loves drinking coffee in the morning, The Ground in Rittenhouse Square is the spot to go.

Michelle Miller and Molly Kiriacoulacos, owners of The Ground, started this business as a passion project.

“We started the idea of The Ground in 2021 during the pandemic,” said Miller. “It’s our Covid baby! We decided that we wanted to switch our careers and do something that really brought us a lot of joy and allowed us to express ourselves.”

Their drive to bring their dreams to life brought them to open up two Ground restaurants: one in North Philadelphia and the other in Rittenhouse Square.

There are different things you can order in this new location, like a Cinnamon Toast Crunch Latte or French butter croissant.

“So, one of the things that makes us unique are our drink specials, including our bubble teas,” said Kiriacoulacos. “At this new location we have more space and a larger kitchen. So, we’re planning on expanding that menu.”

With this new spot, The Ground wants to give guests a one-of-a-kind experience.

“I feel like this concept is unique because we’ve combined all the things that we like, and for some reason it’s resonated with a good amount of people,” said Miller.
