PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Strong wind, thunderstorms and some heavy downpours traveled across the region Tuesday evening. The National Weather Service said, in some of the area, people could see wind speeds of up to 70 mph.

Flights to Philadelphia International Airport were in a ground stop and departing flights were experiencing delays due to the weather. The airport announced on X that travelers should check with their airline for updated flight information.

A number of power outages were reported. PECO saw tens of thousands of customers in Pennsylvania having problems with power. A couple hundred of those homes are in Philadelphia.

Other areas seeing a high number of outages include Jenkintown, Norristown, and Malvern.

PSE&G reported a few thousand power outages all across New Jersey, but in the southern part of the state, the Cherry Hill area had the most customers reported power loss.
