Could the Philadelphia Eagles get active on the trade block soon with training camp gearing up?

Defensive back James Bradberry is one of the first names who comes to mind as a trade candidate given his offseason position change to safety.

That’s a point raised by Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox as he ranks Bradberry third overall on his trade block big board.

“Bradberry is set to carry a cap hit of only $4.3 million this season, but he has $15.1 million in dead money remaining on his deal,” Knox wrote. “He's a potential cut candidate after the Eagles drafted both Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean, even though releasing Bradberry would create no additional 2024 cap space.”

Indeed, trading Bradberry would save the Eagles roughly $1.2 million in cap space this season. Trading a player who might get cut anyway, saving cap space and acquiring compensation for his departure from another team would be a best-case scenario, too.

Granted, the Eagles lack leverage in the situation, so the return would be minimal. Teams in need would like that aspect of it, though, while also acquiring a proven veteran on a cheap contract at a very low risk.
