    Cost for using bridge tolls in Pennsylvania will increase later this year

    (WHTM) — It’s going to cost more to drive the bridges between Philadelphia and New Jersey.

    The Delaware River Port Authority approved raising tolls on four bridges; The Ben Franklin, Walt Whitman, Betsy Ross and Commodore Barry bridges. It’ll go from five to six dollars.

    The money will help cover the rising cost of maintaining them.

    This is the first toll hike for the bridges in 13 years.

    The change takes effect Sept. 1.

    According to the Delaware River Port Authority , the four bridges saw 98.9 million vehicles pass over last year.
