    Jared McCain.

It's not surprising to hear that an incoming rookie welcomes the guidance of a veteran teammate ahead of their first NBA season. However, Philadelphia 76ers first-round pick Jared McCain is looking to soak in as much knowledge as possible before he suits up for the 2024-25 regular season — even from veterans outside the organization.

As Patrick Beverley revealed on the latest episode of the "Pat Bev Pod ," McCain sent him a direct message asking for any advice from the 12-year NBA veteran.

“Just wanted to reach out and ask for some advice into the NBA… I just want to learn as much as possible before I step on the court. I’ll take anything. What are some tips for succeeding as a rookie? How do I get on the floor? How do I get through slumps?” Beverley read on the podcast.

Beverley told McCain on the show to send him his number, a nice gesture from the 36-year-old guard.

While Beverley, who began his career overseas, recently agreed to a deal with Hapoel Tel Aviv B.C. and will return to Europe for the final stretch of his career, he did have a brief stint with the 76ers last season. Beverley played 47 games for Philadelphia before being traded to the Milwaukee Bucks.

McCain's willingness to reach out to Beverley, and likely other veterans, is a great way to start his career. The former Duke guard spent one season with the Blue Devils, averaging 14.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.1 steals per game while shooting 46.2 percent from the field and 41.4 percent from three-point range.

After being selected with the No. 16 overall pick by the 76ers in this year's draft, he's well-positioned to see plenty of early playing time if he can mesh alongside Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and free-agent signing Paul George. If McCain can hit the ground running, he could be a key piece of a 76ers team with its best chance to contend for a title in recent memory.
