Isaiah Rodgers on the Eagles' cornerback room: 'How the hell did Howie pull this off?'

The Philadelphia Eagles knew going into the offseason that they needed to address their cornerback room and they went above and beyond.

Now, they have 15 cornerbacks (20 total defensive backs) competing for a roster spot.

The catch? Most of them are versatile and can line up anywhere in the secondary.

Eagles' cornerback Isaiah Rodgers would even go as far as to say that it's the best room in the NFL, possibly the best room anyone in the league has ever seen.

"It's different. It’s hands down probably the best room anybody’s ever been a part of in the league or in life," Rodgers said during a recent appearance on The Philly Special Show . "I even told my coach that. I was sitting there at practice just standing around and I asked him, 'Do ya'll understand you've got a lot of starters in this room that can start anywhere right now?' I said, 'How the hell did Howie [Roseman] pull this off?'"

The Eagles' cornerback and overall secondary room easily went from being their weakest position to their strongest, at least on paper, within a matter of weeks.

They not only brought back veteran safety CJ Gardner-Johnson in free agency, but also selected two cornerbacks in the first and second rounds of the 2024 NFL Draft, Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean. And according to several reports, they're both making smooth transitions to the NFL level.

Meanwhile, Rodgers returned from his one-year gambling suspension, but watching him at practice, you wouldn't know that he's been away from football that long. Undrafted free agent cornerback Shon Stephens also drew positive reactions throughout spring workouts.

And the Eagles have been cross-training Avonte Maddox and James Bradberry between the safety and cornerback positions.

Of course, there's Darius Slay, Reed Blankenship, and Kelee Ringo, who need no introduction.

Not everyone will make the 53-man roster following training camp, but at least the Eagles won't have to worry about their secondary crumbling again in 2024.
