South Philadelphia is trading out an old industrial plant for burgers and fries. Shake Shack is one of several new stores set to open on the lot that contains the deserted Inolex factory.

The popular concept will be occupying 3,200 square feet of a new shopping center moving into the lot at 16 Snyder Avenue. The Inolex building will be demolished to make room for six stand alone buildings which will house Raising Cane’s, Lidl, Advanced Auto Parts, and a Chase Bank, as well as an as-of-yet unannounced business.

While an opening date is not currently available for Shake Shack, the Raising Cane’s is anticipating a 2025 opening, a timeline the burger and fries favorite will likely also follow.

Shake Shack has developed a tremendous fan following since its debut in New York in 2001. The chain now has both a national and international presence, with 404 locations worldwide. The restaurant offers a variety of burgers, ranging from the most basic beef patty to more elaborate concoctions like the Carolina BBQ burger with fried pickles. Visitors can also choose from a chicken sandwich, hot dogs, and a slew of milkshakes.
