NFL Analyst Has Bad News For Eagles About Saquon Barkley

This offseason, one of the biggest signings of the year was Saquon Barkley heading south on the New Jersey Turnpike to the Philadelphia Eagles .

While it was becoming apparent before the start of the 2023 season that the Giants didn’t seem all that interested in keeping Barkley around long-term, they likely didn’t want him to go to a division rival.

Barkley has had a lot of good seasons with the Giants and still likely has some good years left in the tank. Now, he will have a chance to play on the most talented team that he will be a part of. Even though Barkley was very good with the Giants, he didn’t have the type of talent around him that he will in Philadelphia.

Despite it being a big move on paper, there were some critics of the Eagles signing Barkley.

Recently, Nick Wright tried to cool off the sentiment that Barkley is going to be a difference maker for the Eagles.

Here’s what he had to say.

Saquon Barkley should have an easier time with the Eagles

As a rookie, Barkley was nothing short of amazing, as he totaled over 2,000 combined rushing and receiving yards, with 15 total touchdowns. In his second season, Barkley was able to have another good season, as he totaled over 1,500 yards from scrimmage. Unfortunately, Barkley missed most of his third season with a knee injury.

Since coming back from the injury, Barkley might not have been the same player that we saw as rookie, but in 2022, he had an excellent season, as he was healthy and helped get the Giants into the playoffs.

Barkley getting the blame for the Giants’ offense not being great isn’t all that fair, as while he was the most talented player on that side of the ball, he hasn’t played behind a good offensive line or with a good quarterback.

In Philadelphia, Barkley is going be playing behind a much better offensive line and a much better quarterback in Jalen Hurts. Defenses are not going to be able to focus solely on Barkley like they were with the Giants. Also, the Eagles have had one of the best rushing attacks with running backs less talented than Barkley in recent years.

While Wright might not think Saquon Barkley is going to have a massive impact for the Eagles, Philadelphia should be thrilled to be a getting a very talented player, who is likely playing with a chip on his shoulder after how his time with the Giants ended.
