Shofuso Japanese House and Garden is a 17th-century style house and garden that is located in West Fairmount Park. Architect Junzo Yoshimura built the home in Japan in 1953 using traditional materials and techniques, specific to Japanese culture. The home was taken apart in pieces before being shipped to New York at the Museum of Modern Art. From New York, the home was taken apart again and shipped to Philadelphia where it now serves as a place for visitors to learn, reflect, and discover.

Shofuso Japanese House and Garden also offers tea ceremonies and classes that are led by instructors who are certified by the Japanese school.

As you walk around the garden portion, you will notice all of the native Japanese plants and Koi fish. Visitors have the opportunity to feed the fish as they explore, and all of the guides are very knowledgeable in Japanese culture.
