Are Eagles using training camp to drum up trade interest in veteran defender?

The Philadelphia Eagles might be getting extra creative with one defender at training camp this summer.

By now, most fans understand that defensive back James Bradberry is a trade or cut candidate. As head coach Nick Sirianni explained earlier this year, the veteran will make the switch to safety.

And aleady, Bradberry has worked with the second team to start camp. He’s been in the safety slot despite one of the rookies drafted that made him move in the first place–Cooper DeJean–sitting out injured.

From the looks of it, the Eagles get a two-for-one in the situation. Bradberry gets a chance to prove he can learn the new spot and bolster depth on the final 53. And if not, perhaps another team shows an interest in that versatility via trade.

Should a team express interest, the Eagles would save roughly $1.2 million in cap space, potentially trading away a player who wasn’t going to make the final roster. For the team, it’s a win-win after Bradberry’s well-documented struggles at cornerback last year.
