NFL analyst wants to see Eagles make a splash on trade block as buyers

When it comes to the NFL trade block during Philadelphia Eagles training camp , most suggestions involve selling a veteran defender .

But what if the Eagles acted as buyers?

That’s what the Eagles do in a new column from Bleacher Report’s Alex Ballentine , working a deal with the Cleveland Browns for edge defender Alex Wright:

“Alex Wright is an under-the-radar name to target. He saw just 38 percent of the snaps for the Browns last season, but he racked up five sacks, six tackles for loss and five quarterback hits.”

To make the trade happen in the above scenario, the Eagles merely cough up a fifth-round pick in 2025. In other words, not a bad deal to swing with a team that has an excess of pass-rushing talent.

The Eagles, on the other hand, don’t have that luxury. Brandon Graham is on his farewell tour and Josh Sweat is on the final year of his deal. There are some high hopes for Nolan Smith , but Bryce Huff is a new arrival.

Adding a player like Wright to deepen the rotation would certainly make sense for 2024 and beyond, especially at that price.
