There's one flaw in voting 76ers as having the 'best offseason'

    Paul George.

The Philadelphia 76ers have enjoyed a strong offseason. The addition of Paul George has seen them emerge as a genuine contender in the Eastern Conference. Daryl Morey's roster now has three All-Star-level talents and multiple veterans in the supporting cast.

On Monday, Tim Bontemps released an article for ESPN in which he polled multiple scouts around the NBA to see which team had the best (and worst) offseason. The Sixers won the crown of having the best summer with eight votes. The New York Knicks came second with five.

"They took themselves to the next level," An Eastern Conference executive told Bontemps. "We'll see if it's good enough, but you went from Point A to Point B."

On paper, the Sixers certainly hit a home run. George is one of the best forwards in the NBA and is a true game-changer when at his best. However, some concerns should come with George's addition to the Sixers roster.

Suddenly, Nick Nurse has a squad built on two injury-prone stars . Joel Embiid and George have struggled to stay healthy in recent seasons, and neither of them has been highly impactful in recent playoffs. Morey is banking on both Embiid and George staying healthy at the same time for an entire season (including the playoffs.) When looking at their recent track records, that appears to be wishful thinking.

Of course, Morey also added Andre Drummond, Caleb Martin, Eric Gordon and Reggie Jackson. Three of those four additions are veteran talents at the back end of their careers. While they might be healthier than Embiid and George, there's no guarantee their bodies can sustain a deep playoff run, especially if they're tasked with big minutes.

Part of winning the Larry O'Brien trophy is having luck on your side. It's often said that the healthiest team emerges as a champion. Often, there is some truth to that. If you have a deep roster with high-level talent and avoid injuries, then the odds are in your favor.

Morey is rolling the dice and asking Lady Luck to look upon him favorably. If that's worthy of having the best offseason, then so be it. However, only time will tell whether Morey's gamble will pay dividends.

Right now, the 76ers is a high-level team with some huge question marks hanging over them.
