The Philadelphia 76ers recently welcomed All-Star wingman Paul George with open arms, ushering in a new era in Sixers basketball, which the franchise hopes will end with their first NBA title since 1983. With PG joining 2023 NBA MVP Joel Embiid and All-Star guard Tyrese Maxey , the Sixers have formed one of the most potent "Big 3s" in the league today.

While Maxey was all smiles when he joined PG on the podium of his introductory press conference, the 23-year-old wasn't as enthused when he saw the social media post the Sixers uploaded when they welcomed Paul to the squad.

    Maxey's reaction

The speedy 6-foot-2 guard was PG's guest on the latest episode of "Podcast P." There, he revealed his hilarious reaction to the highlight reel the Sixers' media team posted when they welcomed Paul to their squad.

"I was watching the highlights they posted when he signed, and I'm like, 'Listen here, I thought he was on my team. Why are they showing so many highlights of him scoring on me?'" the 2024 All-Star said with a hearty laugh.

While one highlight with Tyrese on it would have been negligible, the native of Dallas, Texas, bared the team had put together numerous highlights of PG scoring with Maxey defending him.

"I'm like, 'What's going on here?' I said to some people, 'Hey, what are we doing? We're on the same team!'" the 2024 Most Improved Player award winner added.

    PG's a handful to defend

With Maxey and PG now sharing the backcourt, the former can rest assured that he won't have to guard the shifty, high-scoring wingman from California on an NBA court any time soon. After all, the former Kentucky Wildcat knows how difficult that task is.

At 6-foot-9, George already has a tremendous height advantage over the point guard. Add to that his quickness, handles, and deadly shooting touch, and it's no wonder that Maxey was relieved to have PG on his side.

"I got switched on him one time, and he was breaking me down. He went up, and I thought I was about to block it, but he did some type of thing with the ball, and they posted that. I'm like, 'Bro, what are you doing?'" Tyrese said with a huge smile on his face.

"I'll break that ice. I was not very happy about that. That is—it's cool, it's whatever. I'm happy he's here, so it's all good," Maxey added.

After breaking out last season, posting averages of 25.9 points and 6.2 assists per game, Tyrese is determined to prove that performance wasn't a fluke. With PG flanking him on the perimeter and "The Process" holding down the middle, the young guard is confident Philadelphia can take the next step and compete for a championship.
