The narrative around the third wide receiver spot has shifted again at Philadelphia Eagles training camp.

Over the first week, Parris Campbell and John Ross emerged as the top options for third wideout behind A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, especially with rookies Ainias Smith and Johnny Wilson off to slow starts.

    But here comes Britain Covey.

Covey, undrafted in 2022, was explicitly mentioned by Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni as a player enjoying a nice showing at training camp.

While he didn’t have a catch as a rookie and had just four as a sophomore, Covey has been a core member of special teams, where he averaged 14.4 yards per punt return last year.

If nothing else, Covey emerging as the third wideout, too, would help the cut-down process through sheer efficiency. His development and fit with new offensive coordinator Kellen Moore could be at play here, though he’ll need to keep this pace to fend off the others on the depth chart.
