Anthony Edwards Takes Shot At French Fans Amid Joel Embiid Hate Train

If you've tuned in to one of Team USA's games in the men's basketball event, you might have noticed the French crowd booing one player. Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid has been targeted by boos since he stepped into France.

Embiid was once again booed by the French while they were warming up for their game against South Sudan. His Team USA teammate, Anthony Edwards, was informed about this and why the star was being booed.

Edwards simply laughed at that idea. The Minnesota Timberwolves star just cracked a joke, askingwhy Francey would even want Embiid, per Basketnews.

"But you got Wemby and Rudy; why would he play with y'all?" Edwards hilariously asked. "Wemby and Rudy, what more do y'all want? You want three 7-footers?"

There's a good reason why French fans are mad at the 76ers star. Before joining Team USA, Joel Embiid was granted French citizenship, making him eligible to play for the team. However, after a few months, Embiid was also given US citizenship.

Embiid would later commit to joining Team USA, citing the fact that his son was born in the country. Embiid faced a ton of backlash, especially after an interview with French national team general manager Boris Diaw came out. Diaw said that they felt blindsided by the decision, as Embiid expressed his desire to play for France while his US citizenship was being processed.

A triple-tower combination with Embiid, Wembanyama, and Gobert would have been interesting to watch. Regardless, Embiid has made his decision. France is hoping to eventually get revenge on Team USA for this decision as well as their loss in the 2020 Olympics.
