PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Seven out of 10 children stop playing their favorite sport by the time they are 13 years old. Those who continue to play may lose much of the joy that they had in earlier years.

This is why new studies about burnout are so important. While burnout is much more common in adults, it can also occur in kids who participate in organized sports.

The recommendation is that children participate in a wide range of activities in these developmental years. Most importantly, sports should be viewed as an opportunity to grow as an individual and reduce stress.
