Former Eagles CB Mario Goodrich quickly finds new home with rival

The Philadelphia Eagles moved on from cornerback Mario Goodrich on Wednesday and it didn't take him long to find a new home.

Eagles' NFC East rival, the New York Giants, claimed Goodrich off waivers on Thursday, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.

Goodrich, 24, originally went undrafted following the 2022 NFL Draft. He signed with the Eagles following the draft and had been with them before heading to New York this week.

The former Clemson star spent his rookie season on the Eagles practice squad and didn't make his NFL debut until last fall.

In four NFL career games with start, Goodrich logged five tackles (three solo) and zero interceptions or passes defended.

He joins the Giants after the released cornerback Aaron Robinson, who had struggled to bounce back from an ACL injury that he suffered back in 2022.

Respectively, Goodrich will not be missed in Philly because the Eagles currently have 14 other cornerbacks battling for a roster spot at training camp. He will have a better shot at making the roster or seeing the field in New York.

Funny enough, Goodrich was let go by the Birds to make room for ex-Giants offensive lineman Nick Gates.

The Eagles lack experienced depth behind starting center Cam Jurgens , so the Gates adds some veteran help alongside rookies Trevor Keegan and Dylan McMahon.
