Saquon Barkley gives Eagles fans ultimate compliment after recent training camp practice

Running back Saquon Barkley is getting a feel for how loyal the Philadelphia Eagles fanbase is and nothing shocked him more than when aproximately 50,000 Bird fans filled Lincoln Financial Stadium for open practice last Thursday.

“That one was crazy, I’m not gonna lie," Barkley said following Day 8 of training camp practice. "I already knew how much love this city has for, not only this team, but all the teams around here, but for a practice to have 50,000 is truly insane.

"So, thank you to all those fans that came out and showed love and support."

Barkley knows a thing or two about playing for extremely loyal fansbases after not only playing for the New York Giants for six years, but also after his four seasons at Penn State before entering the league.

And to Barkley, the way Eagles fans feel about the team reminds him of his days with the Nittany Lions.

"That’s big," Barkley said. "It helps us as a team, and it makes us want to go out there — you kinda get like a college feel again. Like when I was in college, you don’t want noone to come into Beaver Stadium and get a win there, you get that feel here.”

Barkley doesn't know just yet that if he doesn't live up to expectations this fall that Philly fans may or may not turn on him, but hopefully it doesn't come to that point.

And it shouldn't considering he's projected to have a career-high season given the simple fact that the Eagles' offensive line is in much better shape than the one that he had in New York.
