Bassmaster Junior Championships on Chickamauga this week
DAYTON, Tenn. — For the second time, Chickamauga Lake welcomes some of the best youth anglers from across the country to compete in the Bassmaster High School National Championship, as well as the Bassmaster Junior National Championship. The Junior Championship will be held July 26-27 before the high schoolers take center stage Aug. 1-3. The City of Dayton will host both events, with daily takeoffs and weigh-ins held at Dayton Boat Dock.

Local Student Wins Young Science Lab Award
3M and Discovery Education recently announced the state merit winners of the 2024 3M Young Scientist Challenge, the nation’s premier middle school science competition. Among the top winners list was Shrey Arora, student at West Collierville Middle School, who took home the Tennessee State Merit Award, alongside many other honorable recipients.

Chris Hopper said his leadership in mental health education began in 2018, when a colleague gave a moving speech at an event about losing his father to suicide. Knowing that the construction industry has a high rate of suicide, Hopper, executive vice president and general manager of Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee for Skanska USA, partnered with the Lindner Center of Hope. The Ohio-based mental health facility helped Hopper implement the Start the Conversation program, in an attempt to remove the stigma from sensitive topics on the jobsite.
