Rockland Conservation & Service Corps Celebrates Over 5,000 Hours of Service with Public Event on August 8th
The Rockland Conservation & Service Corps (RCSC) is inviting the public to join a celebration recognizing the remarkable achievements of its 28 Conservation Corps Members, who have collectively completed over 5,000 hours of service. The event will be held on Thursday, August 8th, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Rockland County Fire Training Center, located at 35 Firemen’s Memorial Drive, Pomona.
Record Names Dan Borchert New Ad Sales Director
Dan Borchert has been named the new ad sales director of The Rye Record. Borchert, who joined The Record on July 8, has managed ad sales and marketing for the Robb Report, Departures, Fortune, Conde Nast, and Calvin Klein. Most recently, he was sales director for GHP Media, a printing and digital communications company.
Community4Celiac Raises $55,000 For Celiac Research
Community4Celiac is a Woodbury-based charity which aims to increase awareness about Celiac Disease. The nonprofit was formed this year to raise awareness for the condition. Marci Launer, an adult Celiac patient, and Staci Leibson, a parent of a pediatric celiac patient, came together to form the nonprofit. Launer and Leibson witnessed first-hand how little information is available to celiac patients.

4 family friendly events fill Saturday calendar
The Peekskill Community Tennis Association, a newly formed local group, is hosting a free Community Tennis Day on Saturday July 20th from 10am – noon at the Depew Park tennis courts. Attendees from beginners to experts and everyone in between are invited to show up and join by bringing a racket, lots of water, and maybe even a chair to sit and relax when not on the court. Attendees will be able to practice tennis skills with a local tennis pro or take part in a friendly doubles round-robin. If you don’t know how to play, but have always been curious, show up and let the Peekskill Community Tennis Association teach about the ins and outs of the sport. If you don’t have a racket, no problem. The USTA has a few rackets that participants can borrow at the event. So even if you do not have one, you can join in the fun.
