WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - A 29-year-old Wichita man has been sentenced to 19 years in prison for stabbing a woman in a downtown Wichita alley nearly three years ago. Elam stabbed a then-22-year-old woman during the early morning hours of November 22, 2021. Officers said the woman was walking to her vehicle when Elam approached and stabbed her before running down an alley. The woman suffered a non-life-threatening stab wound to her stomach.

Severe storms bring winds, damage to Wichita area
A line of severe thunderstorms moved across south central Kansas late Tuesday afternoon, bringing wind gusts of 65 miles an hour, bringing down trees and power lines. The storms developed in Kingman and Harper counties and then moved east into Reno, Harvey, Sedgwick, Sumner, Butler and Cowley counties. Wind gusts of 60 to 65 mph were reported near Eisenhower National Airport, and a gust of 67 mph was reported near Viola.
