Bicyclist killed by speeding driver has been identified

Philadelphia, PA – A bicyclist killed by a driver in Center City has been identified.

30-year-old Barbara Freed was an oncology resident at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. She was riding in the bike lane at 18th and Spruce Streets when she was struck by a speeding driver on Wednesday night.

The Inquirer reports that she was flung more than 20 feet in the air by the impact.

Police are looking into the cause of the incident.
