    Roy Gillian, founder of Gillian’s Wonderland Pier and former Ocean City mayor, dies at 94

    Roy Gillian, founder of Gillian’s Wonderland Pier and former mayor of Ocean City, New Jersey, has died at 94 years old.

    Godfrey Funeral Home said in an obituary that he passed away Saturday, August 17 in his home.

    His death comes just over a week after his son, Jay Gillian, announced Gillian’s Wonderland Pier will close after the 2024 season.

    Roy Gillian grew up in Havertown, Pennsylvania and served in the U.S. army from 1951 to 1953.

    He was involved in Cape May County politics throughout the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s.
