Man charged after breaking into Delco daycare naked: police

A man is facing several charges after police said he tried to break into a daycare in Delaware County, stripped naked, and jumped out a window.

It happened on Thursday just before 3 p.m., at Sonrise Christian Day School on the 1600 block of Chichester Avenue.

According to police, dispatching officers were told that a man was armed with a pair of scissors and was attempting to force his way into the daycare from the lobby.

Daycare staff said dozens of students were inside the education center at the time.

The first officer on scene arrived to clothing strewn across the lobby and was told that the man had run up the steps to the second floor of the building, according to police.

“As the Officer pursued, he could hear loud banging, then the sound of glass breaking.  Once upstairs, the Officer found a large broken window and discovered that the subject had leapt from the 2nd floor of the building,” police said in a statement.

Soon after, officers found 18-year-old Saheir Sadler-Chandler naked, and laying in the roadway, in traffic.

Police said Sadler-Chandler was injured and covered in blood when they took him into custody.

Investigators said Sadler-Chandler spat blood and saliva on medical staff as he was being transported to the hospital.

Sadler-Chandler faces a long list of charges, including simple assault, burglary, and vandalism, among other charges.

The investigation is ongoing.
