    Happy Labor Day! If you are spending the day at home today or are planning to hit the roads and need more information on what’s open and closed, when the best time to drive is, what events are going on and more, PHL17 has you covered.

    What’s open and closed:

    • Banks and financial services: CLOSED
    • Mail and postal services: CLOSED
    • Government and federal offices: CLOSED
    • Retail and grocery stores: Most major retailers are OPEN
    • Restaurants and fast food establishments: Most are OPEN
    • Trash and recycling collection companies: CLOSED. If you have trash pickup today expect it to be postponed.

    Labor Day weekend events in Philly:

    • Independence Blue Cross Summerfest
      • Last day to visit Independence Blue Cross Summerfest before it closes. 5-11 p.m.
    • Spruce Street Harbor Park
      • Lounge on colorful hammocks and enjoy lots of food and drink options, 4 – 10 pm.
    • 152nd Labor Day Volksfest at Cannstatter Volksfest Verein in Northeast Philly
