SS United States in talks to be turned into the world’s largest reef

The SS United States could have a new purpose at the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico.

The ship’s future is uncertain, but it is under a “contingent contract” with Okaloosa County Florida to turn it into the world’s largest reef.

The SS United States Conservancy said they have until September 12th to move out of a Philadelphia Port along the Delaware River, as part of a years old rent dispute.

The conservancy emphasized that they would rather see the iconic ship remain afloat.
