PHILADELPHIA (WPHL) — In a chilled station next to the kitchen, a little, old lady named Lee Han rolls, stuffs and twists the dumpling dough with pork, crab and chicken filling. Soup dumplings are some of the many dishes cooked up during happy hour at Ding Feng Tang . The Taiwanese restaurant in Center City continues Summer Social with Happy Hour Philly . While Ding Feng Tang usually pours their cocktails for $12, during Summer Social, their 12 crafted cocktails are $5 and their beer and wine are $4.

“Trash Can is my favorite,” Dandy Lorend, manager and bartender at Ding Feng Tang, said of the cocktail made with a full can of Red Bull tipped upside down in the glass. “They’re all really good, but that one is the strongest.”

Summer Social is a city-wide happy hour held every Wednesday through September 25. Nearly three dozen restaurants across Philadelphia are inviting diners to happy hour from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Ding Feng Tang also serves a spread of happy hour food items including pork, lamb or beef skewers, BLANK and chicken with chilly sauce.

“I like spicy food, and if you do too, this place is for you,” said Mark Prinzinger, founder of Happy Hour Philly. He said Ding Feng Tang is one of his favorite restaurants in the city. “When you come inside, it feels like you’re in Asia. This is one of the few authentic Asian restaurants in Philadelphia.”

The authenticity of its decor is matched with the food. Aside from Lee Han rolling the dumplings in the windowed kitchen, the soup dumplings are served with plates of fried rice, noodles and other dim sum selections.

On Saturday and Sunday, for one weekend only, Ding Feng Tang is inviting guest to a half-priced brunch. From 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., a table-full of rice, noodles, dumplings along with bottomless mimosas, bloody Mary’s, or Mai Tais are available for $20. Diners are urged to register for the brunch special. Lines are expected.
