The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced that nighttime construction will occur next week on Interstate 476 in Montgomery and Delaware counties as part of a major construction project.

The department advises motorists to be aware of the following restrictions:

The $63.7 million project will resurface, repair, and improve nearly 17 miles of the interstate, the related on-and-off ramps, and bridges from I-76 in West Conshohocken Borough, Montgomery County to I-95 in Ridley Township, Delaware County.

The project is intended to “extend the design life and improve ride quality and the safety of the interstate” according to PennDOT, as well as improve stormwater basins, drainage inlets, slope stabilization, guide rail, signs, and other roadside elements.

The department also emphasizes that motorists should allow extra time when traveling through areas under construction as delays and backups will occur.

The entire construction project is expected to finish in late 2025.
