NEW HOPE, PA (WPHL) — The blueberry cheesecake, the Peach Sundae, the raspberry cheesecake and the Chocolate Mousse all sold out on Sunday as the V-Spot Food , a restaurant that serves plant-based cuisine, moves into the final week of Eat, Drink & Be Merry Month. Proceeds from all of the desserts sold are going to help local cancer patients.

“A lot of people who are fighting cancer have nowhere to go to eat whole food, plant-based diet without any dairy, meat, eggs or cheese,” said Diane Thomas, the owner of V-Spot. “The cheesecake has coconut whipped cream, and Chef makes a special vegan cream cheese. All the fruits are organic which is as much as we can get. Our little cookies and our flowers are made right from our garden,” Thomas referenced the charming garden behind the restaurant.

The vegan restaurant stews its own lavender syrup from its plant in the garden. It also grows edible flowers, swiss chard, tomatoes, tomatillos and more. The V-Spot is one of 33 restaurants across Bucks County participating in second annual event. Last year the money raised more than $25,000. One week remains in the campaign to raise money for Kin Wellness & Support Center , a non-profit serving local cancer patients and their caregivers. The facility offers massages, facials, reiki reflexology access bars, acupuncture, chiropractic, counseling, therapeutic support, along with a robust offering of nutritional education and fitness including yoga, and Barre3, a unique combination of strength conditioning, cardio, and mindfulness for an efficient full-body workout. The non-profit invites Bucks County residents battling and recovering from cancer to its center where they have access to a community of individuals who can related to their struggles.

“We have 46 practitioners volunteering their services,” said Keith Fenimore. He and his wife founded Kin Wellness & Support Center. “We’re helping the emotional, the social and the physical well-being of cancer patients and their caregivers.”

The mission to support cancer patients is near and dear to Thomas’ heart. She began the restaurant because there are many people in her life who she has had to watch go through their battles.

“My mother died of cancer,” Thomas said. “I wish Kin [Wellness] had been around when she was going through her battle, because they really do help the people to heal and go through chemo and have healthy food and other lifestyle-healing processes.”

While dining out may seem like the most enjoyable way to donate, there are other ways to contribute to Kin Wellness. The facility lists an online registry of items they need at the center.

“Whether it’s purchasing a $5,000 massage bed to a $5 pack of kitchen sponges, every bit helps.” Fenimore said.

Eat, Drink & Be Merry Month runs through September 15. For a list of participating restaurants, scroll down on the Eat, Drink & Be Merry Month page.
