Price-hikes, prioritization of health, and a perceived drop in quality are pushing Americans away from fast food as a cheap, filling meal option, and it shows.

83% of Pennsylvania residents have reduced their fast food consumption, according to TestCasinos. This ranks the state as the 3rd-most in the United States, more than the national average of 67%.

Here are some more findings from the study:

    • 51% of those cutting back on the drive-thru lane are doing so due to rising costs, compared to 21% for health reasons, and 16% for declining quality
    • Despite the addition of new offers such as McDonald’s $5 Meal Deal, 53% of Americans won’t return to fast food restaurants
    • On average, Americans have replaced 2.2 fast food meals per week with eating at home
