Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer is hosting their 12th annual Million Mile Challenge.

“The Million Mile Challenge was the idea of my husband, Jay, co-executive director, Alex’s dad, that people would love to push themselves and why not do it for kids with cancer,” said Liz Scott, co-executive director and Alex’s mom.

“Whether you walk, cycle or run, YOU can go the distance for children fighting cancer. For Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, participants of all ages log miles throughout September while raising money to help kids with cancer. Our goal is to collectively move a million miles this September,” according to their website.

“We’re changing the lives of children with cancer by funding impactful research, raising awareness, supporting families and empowering everyone to help cure childhood cancer,” according to their website.

We were also joined by Dr. Jennifer Kalish, Pediatric Geneticist from the Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia who said, ” I got my first research grant from Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation in 2013, and it made all the difference because it allowed us to start studying things like Finn and things that affect Finn like hepatoblastoma or liver cancer and all sorts of childhood cancers.”

Finn Miller also joined us in the PHL17 studio to talk to us about his journey and how much it means to have organizations like Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation in his corner.
